Nigeria Police To Build 6,000 Houses For Personnel – DIG

The Deputy Inspector General of Police Department of Logistics Supply, Ibrahim Mamman Tsafe, has said that the Inspector General of Police is planning to build 6,000 housing units for inspectors and the rank and file.
Speaking during a familiarization tour to Gusau, Tsafe said the force is committed to the welfare of policemen hence the IGP’s determination to mobilize all the available technical and financial resources to build houses for policemen at an affordable price.

We have already calculated the number of Inspectors, Sergeants, Corporals and Constables State by State. The essence of doing this is to give you hope and this hope will be driving you to perform because an officer can’t afford to spend 35 years in service without owning a house,” he told his audience.

However, the DIG cautioned that the gesture is meant for only those who are ready to deliver, and is based on solid performance and evidence of gallantry.

He also warned the officers against corruption, saying it is only denting the image of the police and making the public view the police with suspicion, and that whatever an officer gets through bribery and corruption would only be spent on trivialities.

“As police officers, you should revisit your conduct and earn the respect of the public and that of the IGP, especially with the coming of a promising and more determined dispensation,” he added.
