Plateau State Going Digital

The Government of Plateau State announced that the Plateau Radio/Television Corporation is ready for the digital switch over scheduled for this Saturday in Jos.

Speaking at a Press Briefing in his office, Mallam Muhammad Nazif, the Commissioner for Informati0n and Communication said “The selection of Plateau as the pilot State for this project was based on equipment of the PRTVC by the National Broadcasting Cooperation (NBC), having been convinced that Plateau possesses more modern equipment ahead of others, we were therefore selected to champion this course.”

“The State Government has since continued to meet its obligations towards the realization of this National goal. And where we are today is both the result of this commitment and the receptive atmosphere provided by citizens of the State.‎”

He added that “the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture has done a lot to bring this to a reality. A Digital Switch Over Committee has since been set up under the leadership of Engr. Edward Amana. The Committee has effectively been on ground to ensure the project is successful.”

“It has been in Jos for some days putting all the necessary finishing touches, including the distribution of 200,000 set up boxes to be given out free of charge to the residents of Jos East, Jos North and Jos South Local Government Areas.

“For us in Jos, this event is not just another example of a major stride in technology. It reminds us of the richness of our history in the broadcast industry. This is the source of our strength as we channel resources to ensure that we succeed.”
